Career Progression Profile: Chris H

Through his apprenticeship, Chris always felt like a valued part of the team. His transition to a full-time member of staff and eventually, Senior Technician, has led him to a fulfilling career.

When initially considering his career opportunities Chris decided he wanted to earn while he learned and that engineering would be a good fit for his practical and inquisitive nature, so applied to Moog.

While completing his apprenticeship, he found that Moog’s company culture made it a great place to work: “Initially, when I was thinking about Moog, I spoke to people who worked here and got the impression that it was a good company to start my career at. I soon discovered that Moog’s main strength is the people that work here. It’s always been a really nice place to come and work, and it really appreciates and values its staff in any area,” Chris said.

“My transition to a full-time member of staff was incredibly smooth, and since completing my NVQ Level 3, I had the opportunity to move onto a HNC in mechanical engineering,” Chris continued.

As a Senior Technician in the Assembly and Test department, Chris has a varied role, working on projects like building systems, and regularly taking on tasks like charging pneumatic systems, leak testing valve heads and systems, and hydrostatic testing.

He’s also keen to help other potential engineers on their way, recently representing Moog at a careers fair: “I enjoyed representing the company at a local school, and I was able to engage with young people in a similar position to me a few years ago, telling them more about apprenticeships and engineering at Moog,” Chris concluded.
