Intern Profile: Abisha M
For her placement year, Abisha wanted to work with a company that was actively focused on development. She chose Moog because of the company’s constant desire to move forward and continuously improve its key products.
Abisha first came into contact with Moog online: “I was actively looking for intern jobs and was drawn to the opportunity because Moog stood out as an ideal company to grow and learn within.”
As part of the Engineering Investigations team, Abisha inspects product failures, which can involve qualification, new build, or in-service operations and functions. She also has the opportunity to use some of the latest technology. “I use equipment such as advanced camera microscopes, a scanning electron microscope, including material identification using Energy Dispersive X-Ray analysis, and a Fourier-Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy.”
She is particularly proud of her progress in using these tools, but has also been given the chance to work on projects from the very beginning and become an integral part of the team: “Lately, I’ve been given an interesting project involving flow erosion of the spool. This project will involve all aspects from designing all the way to testing the materials, and I’m confident that this will be a fantastic learning experience.”
So far, Abisha has enjoyed her time at Moog, saying “The employees are all united in their goals and all work together in harmony, which makes it a really good environment to learn and work in.”
