Working on both commercial and military applications, Elena’s time at Moog has allowed her to learn new skills in industry that she wouldn’t have done in the lecture hall.

Elena chose Moog for her placement year as she wanted to work for an innovative and inclusive company. “While at Moog, I’ve been able to work on projects where I could see a positive impact, applying skills I’ve learnt so far to real-life projects, which has been really exciting,” Elena said.

On rotation between the commercial team and military team, Elena’s day can vary quite a lot: “In my first month, I worked with the Commercial Product Engineering team, where on a typical day I spent time writing work instructions for the assembly team – this taught me a lot about process.”

“However, now I’m more focused on designing fixtures that hold finished units for testing – this will help make the testing process quicker and more straightforward,” Elena continued.

As a hockey player, Elena is well aware of the need to have the backing of a good team, which she’s found at Moog. “There is always someone who’s happy to help or answer your questions. Even in just one month, I’ve learnt a lot working alongside people who are very talented and clearly enjoy their work – it’s a very supportive and inclusive culture,” Elena concluded.
