Intern Profile: Javi S

Motorsport fan Javier has been able to get involved with a variety of projects that get him closer to the sport during his time at Moog, while learning valuable skills to help him on his career journey.

Javier’s initial interest in Moog came from learning about various projects that the company had undertaken in sports he enjoyed, such as its work on Formula 1 hydraulics and the creation of the moving roof for Wimbledon’s Centre Court. “It was not long after I started my internship that I realised what a great place it was to work in,” Javier said. “I feel very connected with the company’s values and its culture.”

From day one, Javier was given a variety of responsibilities as part of the marketing team – not just making the coffee! “I take part in meetings with lots of different parts of the business, and I’m always encouraged to share my thoughts or add anything I feel is important,” Javier continued. “Otherwise, I’m in charge of my own schedule, which involves tasks like gathering information on LinkedIn Sales Navigator, content research for social media and helping the marketing team on a variety of projects.”

An important part of Moog’s values is ‘Trust is a Must’, and Javier feels like he’s trusted to make a real difference in his role. “As an intern, I was expecting my tasks to be relatively simple and that they wouldn’t have a real effect on the business. However, that isn’t the case at Moog.

“As part of my internship, I’ve been able to go to different shows and meet prospective clients – including a visit to Silverstone, the home of F1 in the UK. As an F1 fan, I’ll always remember this, and I was proud to do a good job at the show, but also because I was trusted to represent the company alongside the marketing team after just a month in the role!” Javier said.

As well as being able to take part in some exciting projects, Javier’s found Moog to be very welcoming, which makes for a good working environment. “Everyone is very friendly and have treated me like a real part of the team. Spending time talking to people, learning how they started at the company and what they’ve worked on has been one of the things I’ve enjoyed most while working here – as well as the company football matches every Monday!” Javier concluded.
